fairytale flaws

Why is it that children are always so brave and respectable when facing adversity but fail the moment they see something sweet? They can battle monsters, face their greatest fears and yet the moment they see a bloody delectable treat on the table, all falls apart. The greatest mistake they can make is eating. Hansel and Gretel, Pan’s Labyrinth - I guess that the world’s literary minds believe that a child’s greatest flaw is gluttony.
